He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Erdman and Esther Erdman (Klaus); his former wife Iris Will; his brother James Erdman; and his granddaughter Deanna Barsaleau.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Essenmacher (Trepkoski) of Ubly; his friend Euchre; his children, Thomas Erdman (Janice) of Vassar, Michael Erdman (Vicky) of Minden City, Lisa Barsaleau (Jay) of Livonia, Jeffery Erdman (Kathleen) of Cadillac and Amy Stern (Joshua) of Sandusky; his stepchildren, Lori Woznicki (Tony) of Royal Oak and Brian Essenmacher of Lewiston; his stepdaughter-in-law Kim Essenmacher of Rochester Hills; and his sister-in-law Plavion Erdman of Saginaw. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.
