He is survived by: his wife Marcella Vatter of Ubly; his sons, Joseph Vatter (Thane) of Ubly and Michael Vatter (Weiner) of St. Joe; his daughter-in-law Jill Vatter (Field) of Lansing; his grandchildren, James Vatter of Lansing, John Vatter (Jenson) of Lansing, Rhea Merriman (Michael) of Snover, Zachary Vatter of Houghton and Reese Vatter of Saranac; his great grandchildren, Grace Merriman of Snover, Bobby Vatter of Lansing, Olivia Merriman of Snover and Pepsi of Ubly; and his sister Janice Pudelko of Maryland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
