He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Hansen and Lena Hansen (Dennison); and his siblings, Lucille Hansen, Bernice Becker, John Hansen, Sam P. Hansen, Jr. and Laraine Hansen.

He is survived by: his wife Maxine Hammel; his children, Karen Cameron of Grand Rapids, Robert R. Hansen, Jr. (Kathleen), Old and Max P. Hansen (Marie) of Gowen; his grandchildren, Casey (Ally) of Robert, III, Tessa, Andrew (Nkamdu) and Katie; his sisters, Margaret Peters of Mt. Pleasant and Edna Dyer of Westville; his sisters-in-law, Cleo Ruppel and Jackie Hansen; and his close friends, Ione Edison, Terry Howell, Luke Jensen and Pete Gorby. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
