He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Wilberding and Elizabeth Wilberding; and his son Michael (Lori). He is survived by: his wife Joanne; his children, David (Julie), James (Nan), Bruce (Michelle) and Nancy Hargrave-Thomas (Noel); and his brother Jerry. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
