He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Deering and Agnes Deering (Mahoney); and his siblings, Mary Heilman, James Deering (Barney), Thomas Deering and Kathleen Stevens (Kitty).
He is survived by: his close friend Marlene Butler; his children, Michael P. Deering (Rose Mary) of Traverse, Agnes K. Ochs of Traverse, Patrick J. Deering (Peggy) of Traverse, Gerald M. Deering (Deborah) of Traverse and Mary Ann Stein (Kenneth) of Traverse; his grandchildren, Michael Deering (Sommer), Sean Deering (Kristen), Ryan Stein (Crystal), Amy, Paul Deering (Janna), Jacob Deering (Whitney), James Deering (Carrie), Thomas Deering and Meghann Deering; and his goddaughter Christine Mikowski. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
