He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Popp and Loretta Popp (Reicha); his wife Fran; his siblings, Clarence (Patricia), Raymond (Diana) and Mary Lou Bumgardner (John); his brother-in-law David Lamb; and his son-in-law John Barney.

He is survived by: his children, Deborah Nearing (Mark) of Gaylord, Jeffrey Popp (Sheri) of Petoskey, Bradley Popp (Tracie) of Traverse City and Rebecca Popp; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Isaac, Eli, Matthew, Seth and Katelyn; and his siblings, Geraldine Miller (Gerald), John Popp (Diane), Dorothy Lamb and Christine Wagley (Robert).
