David Louis Mathia Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 3, 2022, at the age of 66, David Louis Mathia (Traverse City, Michigan) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Mathia and Barbara Mathia; his former wife Kathryn Mathia (Curtis); his daughters, Monica Anne and Kimberly Nicole Mathia; and his sister Laura Rainey.
He is survived by: his wife Faye; his siblings, Joseph Mathia (Cathy), Lynn Mathia and Leigh Brownley (Doug); his parents-in-law, Wendell, Barb Lawrence, Doug, Lori Tull, Maureen Clement and Tim Clement; and his extended family, Debbie Soper (Dan), Larry Archambeau (Sandy) and Bob Ackerman (Helen). He is also survived by 35 nieces and nephews and their spouses.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution in Dave's name to: Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor, Michigan, Suttons Bay Congregational Church in Suttons Bay, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the charity of your choice. We also encourage anyone able to donate blood and become an organ donor — Dave's life was saved with his kidney and pancreas transplant, and blood transfusions extended his life on many occasions.
