He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Dashner and Ruth Dashner (Gary); and his brother Charles Dashner. He is survived by: his wife Judy C. Maraugha; his children, Kim Eighmey (Dennis) and Howard "Butch" Dashner (Carrie); his grandchildren, Eric, Ethin, Kaileen McKinney (Derek) and Logan; his great grandchild Reid McKinney; and his brother John Dashner (Janice).
