He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Kenneth and Helen Marie Shaffer (Hackworth); and his brother Phil. He is survived by: his children, Natalie Rutan of Lansing and Nathan Rutan of Tekonsha; his grandchildren, Mariya, Maranda and Dekota; his great grandchildren, Kaylee, Ah'lil and Al'Jah; and his siblings, Donald Shaffer of Tekonsha, Curtis Shaffer (Linda) of Florida, Lester Shaffer (Cindi) of Tekonsha and Penny Sievers (Terry) of Marshall. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
