He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Carpenter and Roy Carpenter; his wife Patricia Carpenter; his brother Theodore Carpenter; his children, Charles Porter Jr., Robert Porter, David Porter and Janice Porter; and his grandchildren, Charles Porter III, Michelle Porter, Amy Prothero and David Porter Jr..
He is survived by: his children, James Porter, April Gonzales (Augustin) and Michael Cloyd; his grandchildren, Trisha (Jeff), Holly (Norm), June (John), Carl (Sarah), Sharon (Mark), Sandy (Wade), Barbie, Bobby, Kaleb (Cori), Kylie (Tyler), Dean, Wayne and William; and his siblings, Jerry (Becky), Donna (Tom) and Sharon. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
