He was predeceased by: his son James Joseph; his former wife Louise; his stepdaughter Tammy Coffman; his parents, Purvis Reynolds and Mabel Reynolds; and his siblings, Gene Sammon, Dixie Reynolds and Glenna Frett.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his children, Sheldon (Betty), David Reynolds, Twila Wilczynski (Frank) and Jenny Berthold; his stepdaughter Sheila Frye (Kevin); and his siblings, Purvis (Leroy) and Rita Lewis (John).
