Thornton and Edith Thornton (Sawyer); his wife Shirley Thornton (Dawe); his pet Winthrop; his brother William Neil Thornton of Tawas City; his daughters, Mary Blue of Tawas City and Ruth Rexford (Jonathan) of Vero Beach, FL; and his grandchildren, Samuel Rexford of Vero Beach and Felicia Murphy (Bill) of Orlando. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews.
