He is survived by: his wife Lois Brookins; his children, Julie Brookins (Mark Lair) of Denver, Jennifer Koon (Jeff) of Grand Rapids and Jeffrey Brookins (Angela) of Grand Rapids; his grandsons, Travis, Shane, Bishop, Isaac, Kyle and Alex; his siblings, Richard Brookins of Belen and Cathy Hanchek (Pete) of Carney, Michigan; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Alda (Kim) of East Tawas and Karen Alda of East Tawas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends.
