He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Slater and Ada Slater; his son Brett Slater; his siblings, Jim, Jack, Glen Slater and Martha Spencer; and his parents-in-law, Ester Link, John Lorenz, Ruth Asselin, Sam Lorenz, Ken Spencer, Chuck Lackey, Joyce Slater and Mildred Slater.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Slater; his children, Vickie Selinger (Steve), Jeff Slater (Cyndy), Brian Slater (Sherry) and Paula Paulina (Mike); his grandchildren, Amber Butler (Brad), Justin Slater (Meghan), Bradley Slater, Andrew Selinger, Michael Slater, Tom Selinger (Jordan), Leanne Selinger (Ryan), Alex Paulina, Ben Paulina, Kelly Hazel (Jason) and Brad Bland; his great grandchildren, Keegan Butler, Kaleb Butler, Kayman Butler, Riley Mau, Avery Slater, Lennon Slater, Matthew Hazel and Mason Selinger; his siblings, Helen Lackey, Jean Coffey (Rex) and Richard Slater; and his sisters-in-law, Ruth Lorenz, Karen Slater and Shirley Slater. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
