She was predeceased by: her parents, William Groves and Dorothy Groves (Mancour); her husband Ken Nitz; her former husband James Cech; and her siblings, Juanita Cech, Jane VanY, Lawrence Groves and Bill Groves.
She is survived by: her sons, James Cech (Tina) and Gary Cech (Luanne); her grandchildren, Christina Cech Robbins, Amanda Cech, Elizabeth Cech Lockwood (Steven), James T. Cech (Jessica) and Joshua Cech; her sisters, Linda Fullerton and Alberta Oxford; and her siblings-in-law, Joy Groves, Grace Groves and John VanY. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Up until COVID, several graduates continued to meet monthly for lunch.
