Katherine Pier Mapes Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Katherine Pier Mapes of Sunfield, Michigan, who passed away on May 8, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Stanhope "Doc" Huyck and Florence Huyck-Schavey; her daughters, Kathy Black of Grand Ledge, Becky Calabro of Sunfield, Karen Mapes-Lerch (Bill) of Breckenridge, Colorado and Amy Acker (Mike) of Sunfield; and her grandchildren, Ariel Oltean (David) of Detroit, Hayden Acker (Mari) of Sunfield, Isabela Acker, Easton Acker of Sunfield and Max Lerch of Colorado. She was also cherished by her four daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Kate donated time to the Sunfield Historical Society and Sunfield District Library by working tirelessly on the publication of the book, "Sunfield Town and Country, The History of Sunfield & Vicinity.".
