He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlson Vaughn and Mary Eunice Miller (Timm); his foster mother Phyllis Prather Hanley (Schermerhorn); and his brothers, Samuel Miller and Stephen Miller.

He is survived by: his foster father Richard "Dick" Prather; his sons, Matthew Miller Jr. (Sarah) of Portage, MI, Mark Miller (Laura) of Albany, NY and Ryan Miller of Three Rivers, MI; his grandchildren, Zachary, Leah Miller, Mark Miller Jr., Wesley Miller and Daniel Miller; his siblings, Tim Miller (Laura) of Sturgis, MI, Andy Miller (Linda) of Sturgis, MI, Terry Scalzo of Mongo, IN, Sheryl Clauss of Saginaw, MI, Patti Kushner (Steve) of Saginaw, MI and Carol "Jeannie" Eagan of Milwaukee, WI; and his foster siblings, Janet Miller (Greg), Susan Prather and Stan Prather (Pearl). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
