He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest T. "Red" Gerkin and Frances Arlene Gerkin (Hepner); his brother Joseph Gerkin; and his brother-in-law Steve Mays. He is survived by: his daughter Ashely Gerkin of LaGrange, Indiana; his grandsons, Kayden Mahler and Tucker Sidemore; and his siblings, Anna Watts (David) of Sturgis, Cindy Mays of Sturgis and James Gerkin (Donna) of Three Rivers. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
