He was predeceased by: his parents, Erie Bontrager and Dora Bontrager (Liechty); his wife Bertha Carpenter; and his sisters, Eunice Carlson, Eleanor Bontrager and Virginia Sharp.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Monson (Michael) of Sturgis, Carolyn Gautsche (Greg) of Coldwater, Marilyn Borntrager (Marty) of Grove Oak, Alabama, Dennis Bontrager (Rin) of Centreville and Fred Bontrager (Maggie) of Toccoa, Georgia; and his sisters, Mary Oesch (Don) of Archbold and Fern Miller (Nelson) of Newcomerstown. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Locust Grove Church (29525 Findley Rd, Burr Oak, MI 49030). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
