With profound sadness, we say goodbye to James Sims Jr. of Sterling Heights, Michigan, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He is survived by: his wife Linda Sims; his sister Janis Sims; his nephew Aaron Gomez (Sadie); his great-nieces, Jade Gomez and Mariah Orillosa (Ivan); his stepchildren, John Dyrda, Jim Dyrda (Wendy) and Amy Bauman; his grandchildren, Kristine D'Herde, Samantha Blay, Bryce Bauman, Andrew Dyrda and Graham Bauman; his great grandchildren, Colton Marino, Kamden Marino and Owen Blay; his friend David Magreta; and also Sage Orillosa.
The lying in state was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors, Inc. - Sterling Heights (3801 18 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in honor of James' service to the Air Force.
