He was predeceased by: his parents, Sanford Messer and Mattie Shepherd; and his siblings, Janice Messer and Billie Cofer. He is survived by: his wife Arlean Messer; his daughter Lucy McLaughlin (Bill); his grandsons, Brett McLaughlin (Emily Trojanowski), Devin McLaughlin (Bailey Sandri) and Logan McLaughlin; and his sister Wanda Callely.
