He was predeceased by: his parents, Wisner Townsend and Virginia Townsend (Harris); and his children, John J. Townsend II and Cherise Townsend. He is survived by: his wife Dana Townsend; his children, Steve and Debbie; his grandchildren, Blake and Erin; his stepchildren, Aaron Merritt, Laicey Soule, Michael Skinner and David Skinner; and his stepgrandchildren, Jacob Soule and Jenna Soule. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
