He was predeceased by: his parents, Zygmunt Zylka and Jennie Zylka; and his wife Mary. He is survived by: his siblings, Zygmund (Arlene), John Zylka (Inge) and Sophie Gozdor (Ronald); his children, Thad Zylka (Peg), Jeanette Franck (Michael), Lydia Armstrong (Rodney) and Christine Welch (Robert); and his grandchildren, Ryan (Christian Franck), Anna, Mary (Sarah Armstrong), Oak (Brooke Welch) and Reid Rodarmel (Alexis Miller). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
