John Arthur Cook Obituary
John Arthur Cook, 76 of Standish, also known as "Jack" to his family & friends, passed away at home February 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Omer, Michigan on May 26, 1948, to the late, Benjamin and Helen (Greanya) Cook.
When Jack was 10 years old, his mother passed away, he went to live with his brother Earl & Delaine Cook, where he became like a big brother to Mike, Doug, Jerry, Dave & Susie Cook.
Jack's heart found its match in 1965, where he met his soulmate, Patricia Ann Reno. They exchanged vows on July 15, 1967. They welcomed their sons Thomas, Stephen (Becky), John (Shannon), and Kevin (Krysta). Their love was further multiplied with the joy of 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jack graduated from Arenac Eastern Schools in 1967. He dedicated 32 years of service as a Fork Truck Operator at Northern Tube. He owned and operated, Cook's Monuments and Cemetery Care with his sons for many years. Jack was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed doing anything outdoors. He also enjoyed dancing with his beloved Patricia. His hands were gifted in woodworking, building, and gardening. A family man through and through, and would help anyone that needed a hand. Among the many cherished memories, the Alaskan trip with his sister Marge and Patricia stood out as an adventure of a lifetime.
Jack Cook will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a wise, gentle soul whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who admired him dearly.
Preceding Jack in death were his parents, Benjamin and Helen Cook, siblings Earl (Delaine) Cook, Marjorie Vagts (Posthumous) and his infant sister Joylynn and infant brother Randy.
His legacy of love and wisdom will endure in the hearts of those who loved him, a reminder of a life well-lived and a man profoundly cherished.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 11:00am at Resurrection of The Lord Catholic Parish with Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner presiding. Friends and family may visit the church from 9:00am until time of service.
