She was predeceased by: her parents, John DeBruler and Rose DeBruler; her husband Thomas Potgiesser; and her siblings, John DeBruler, Ralph DeBruler, Charles DeBruler, Roger DeBruler, Ernest DeBruler, Mildred Shank and Doris Hall.
She is survived by: her children, Daryl Wood (Cathy), Beth Preston (Jerry), Debra Wood, David Wood and Ellen Melvin; her grandchildren, Brian Wood, Justin Wood (Ashley), Mark Bolin, Heather Wyman, Steven Preston (Colleen), James Preston, Jeffrey Preston (Amy), Laura Preston, Kyle Wood, Taylor Wood, Dylan Melvin (Rachel) and Paige Melvin (Anthony); her brother Ray DeBruler; her sisters-in-law, Sue DeBruler, Joan DeBruler and Mavis DeBruler; and her close friend Mary Ann Hasbrouck. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that all proceeds be sent to the American Cancer Society and Gentiva Hospital in Shirley's memory.
