He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Millicent; and his parents-in-law, Henry and Lena Smith. He is survived by: his wife Karen Smith; his children, William Sutton, Jr. of Ferrysburg, James Sutton (Angie) of Fruitport, Tracey Knollinger (Kevin) of Spring Lake and Mindy Burns (Ryan); his grandchildren, Shaye Russell (Robert), Haley Baxter (John), Cody Sutton (Valerie), Jimmy Sutton (Kaylee), Hunter Sutton, Josh Sutton, Ashley, Megan, Paige, Kyle Knollinger, Lucas, Emma and Kaitlyn Burns; and his sisters, Nancy Ludders and Sue Sutton. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private family service will take place at Ferrysburg Community Church.
