He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur J. Skoglund and Elsie Skoglund (Peterson); his wife Carla Jane Skoglund; and his son Richard Skoglund Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Laurel Simons (Ken) and Dan Skoglund (Jeannie); his grandchildren, Rachel Simons, Richard Simons (Josefine), Kimberly Skoglund and Kaitlin Genslak (David); and his sister-in-law Gerry Collins. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Muskegon Rescue Mission or Olivet Evangelical Free Church.
