He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Hoekenga and Louise Hoekenga (Fisher); and his child Ellen Hoekenga (Colsman). He is survived by: his wife Ione; his children, Brad Hoekenga (April) of St. Louis, Brenda DeYoung (Craig) of Grand Rapids and Beth Van Rees (Dave) of Muskegon; and his stepchildren, Laura Bakker (Paul) of Spring Lake, Donn Meindertsma (Robyn) of Fairfax, VA, Elisabeth Smeda (Ralph) of Alexandria, VA and Mary Bonnema (Jerriens) of Grand Rapids. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers in law, and many nieces and nephews.
