She was predeceased by: her husband Jack Twiest; her son-in-law Nels Christopher (Korky); and her siblings, Harold, Jack Dykstra, Helen Deloy and Joan Buckley.
She is survived by: her children, Victoria Harthorn (Kim) of Eveleth, MN, Bonita Christopher of Spring Lake, Teresa German (Daryl) of Wolf Lake and Melvin Twiest (Maryanne) of Muskegon; her grandchildren, Trisha Stapleton (Michael), Rebecca Welsch (Eric), Adrienne Hubbard (Andy), Chris Christopher, Jesse Christopher, Bryan Smant (Jamie) and Adam Smant (Anja); her great grandchildren, Joshua, Luke Stapleton, Hannah Goetzel, Jack, Rhys Hubbard, Katrina Christopher, Kash Christopher and Mara Smant; her sisters, Margaret Hall (Peggy) and Mary Connell; and her sister-in-law Marlene Dykstra.
It is the family's wish for memorial contributions to be made to the National Park Service in memory of Joyce so that others may continue to adventure.
