Gladys Karel Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gladys Karel (Spring Lake, Michigan), born in Muskegon, Michigan, who passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Hollar and Gladys Hollar (Boyden); and her siblings, Winona Ondra (Mike), Phyllis Groeneveld (Casey), David Hollar (Evonne) and Pamela Flickema.
She is survived by: her husband Henry Karel, Jr.; her children, Stephen Karel (Debra) of Muskegon and Jennifer Carlson (Vincent) of Muskegon; her grandchildren, Martha Messer (Eddie), Lydia Newton (Jeremy), Anna Sleeper, Simon Karel (Elizabeth), Gordon Sleeper and Samuel Karel (Christy Escobar); her great grandchildren, Makenna, Kylen Messer and James Newton; her stepgranddaughter Jessica Gosselin; her brother Samuel Hollar (Joan); her brother-in-law Paul Flickema (Kathy Messenger); and her nieces, Debi Swanson and Sandi Medema. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 28th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, August 29th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Olivet Evangelical Free Church - Harvey Campus (6790 Harvey Rd, Spring Lake, MI 49456). A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 29th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
