It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gladys Karel (Spring Lake, Michigan), born in Muskegon, Michigan, who passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Hollar and Gladys Hollar (Boyden); and her siblings, Winona Ondra (Mike), Phyllis Groeneveld (Casey), David Hollar (Evonne) and Pamela Flickema.
She is survived by: her husband Henry Karel, Jr.; her children, Stephen Karel (Debra) of Muskegon and Jennifer Carlson (Vincent) of Muskegon; her grandchildren, Martha Messer (Eddie), Lydia Newton (Jeremy), Anna Sleeper, Simon Karel (Elizabeth), Gordon Sleeper and Samuel Karel (Christy Escobar); her great grandchildren, Makenna, Kylen Messer and James Newton; her stepgranddaughter Jessica Gosselin; her brother Samuel Hollar (Joan); her brother-in-law Paul Flickema (Kathy Messenger); and her nieces, Debi Swanson and Sandi Medema. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
