He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father William Pals; his wife Joanne Kuipers; his children, Carol Stewart (William), Dr. William Pals (Stephanie) and Sarah Pals; his brother Dr. Peter Pals (Helen); and his fathers-in-law, Dr. Donald Kuiper (Lucille) and Dr. Bernard Kuipers (Suzanna). He was also cherished by 5 granddaughters; 1 grandson.
