He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Cyril Kurnat and Ruth Kurnat (Dancer); his wife DeLoris Miller; his brothers, Steve and Michael Kurnat; his grandson Kevin Gilbert; and his children, Richard Kurnat (D. Anne), Doug (Karla Kurnat), Kurt (Jackie Kruithoff) and Glenn Kurnat. He was also cherished by 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
