He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Joseph Gonyea and Clistie Gonyea (Richard); his son Mark Gonyea; and his siblings, Charles, Eugene "Bill", Earl, David, Jackie Segur and Margaret Gonyea.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Barbara Idukas (Anthony Kerry); his children, Timothy Gonyea (Beth) of Monroe, Talmadge Gonyea of South Rockwood, Tony Gonyea of Monroe, Marci Ibbetson (Michael) of Milan, Michael Gonyea (Mesada) of Monroe, Robert Gonyea (Audrey) of South Rockwood and Julianne Bomia (Jason) of Lowell, Michigan; his siblings, Barb Breitenbach (Henry) of Newport and Ed Gonyea (Mary) of Houghton Lake; and his brother-in-law Edward Idukas (Gloria) of Monroe. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
