He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Waltanen and Breeta "Elizabeth" Waltanen (Luukkonen); his siblings, Andrew, Steen "Stanley", Mack, Henry "Cushie", Felix "The Cat", Elmi, Ellen, Martha and Helmi; and his grandson Ronny Jarvela.
He is survived by: his son Michael Jr. Waltanen (Tonya) of Toivola; his grandchildren, Shaylee (Brandon) and Brogan Forsman (Max) of Marquette, MI.; his stepchildren, Steven and Wendy; his daughters, Sharon, Susan and Elaine; and also Belami Ryker of Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
