He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicolaas Jacobus and Maria Hendrika Martina Akemann (van Gaalen); his son Marcelino (Coleen); his former wife Lilian; and his siblings, Joop (Adriana) and Miep (Jan).

He is survived by: his wife Karen Temmen Akemann; his children, Victor F. Akemann (Beth), Maximillian (Alexandra), Nicole (Alan) and Dmitri; his grandchildren, Camille, Forrest, River, Nico, Leif, Berkeley, Zolee, Ian, Shane and Austin; and his great grandchildren, Kai and Caison. He is also survived by two step children and 10 step grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made in his name to the St. Jude Children's Fund, a foundation he was most passionate about.
