He was predeceased by: his parents, George Haapala and Lillian (Arola); his brother Jerry; and his nephew Paul Haapala. He is survived by: his wife Esther; his brothers, Charlie (Bonnie) and Bob (Carol); his children, Sarah, Dave (Melville), Jeremy, Amanda, Maria, Steve (Hicks), Tom, Rebecca, Andy and Aimee; and his grandchildren, Mason, Ava, Jonah, Abe, Jax, Aero, Jameson, Jasmine, Isaac, Ethan, Mathew, Eli and Brynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
