She was predeceased by: her parent Willie Burns (Johnnie); her son Jimmy Ashley; and her nephew Wallace Burns. She is survived by: her daughter Margaret "Ann" Thurmand (Eugene); her siblings, Eula L. Foster, Dorothy Singleton, Florence Davis, Linda Burns (Jay), Birdie Sorrells (Joe) and Freddie Burns (Shirley); her grandchildren, Derek Howard Jr., Clairece Brown, April Ashley, Lionel Ashley and Mildred Ashley; her daughter-in-law Marie Ashley; and her friend Wayne Harr.
