He was predeceased by: his father Roy Ashley; his wife Carole Ellen (Siementkowski); and his brothers, Jerry and Bruce. He is survived by: his children, Ellen Trojan (Al), Ilene Arvay (Joe), Dan Ashley (Bonnie) and Eric Ashley; his siblings, Billy, Alvin, Byron and Joyce Evans; and his grandchildren, Cassandre, Lewis, Alexander, LeAnn, Leah, Mae, Grant, Luke, Wendy, Kacie and Amber. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
