He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Thompson II and Marjorie Bailey Thompson; his sons, Jason and Todd; and his brother-in-law James Cinader.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret of South Boardman; his sons, Raymond Thompson (Molly) of South Boardman and Joshua Thompson (Cheyenne) of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Grace and Isaac Thompson; his siblings, Marjorie Edwards (Dale), Sharon Cinader, Patricia Moreno and Steven Thompson (Denise); and his close friend Douglas Gaultier. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested friends and family to make a donation of their choosing to the charity of their choice, or to The Father Fred Foundation; Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine Lucky Fund for Needy Animals; or The Judy Gonyeau Shultz Nursing Scholarship at Schoolcraft College in Detroit.
