She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Phillip Romano and Rose Romano (Amarose); her husband Gene Merritt; her children, Ron Black, Terry Black, Ann Smith (Tom) and Dee Evans; her grandchildren, Amie Heinlein (Kevin), Nathan Reinke (Tonia), Michael Ingersoll, Kaitlin Talsma, Brooke Graham (Wesley) and Gabrielle Black; her sister Shirley Patrick (Ed); and her sister-in-law Delores Romano. She was also cherished by several great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to her church.
