He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Canute and Anita Canute (Spencer); his brother Bobby Canute; and his mother-in-law Wanda Hartupee. He is survived by: his wife Sue Canute (Hartupee); his sons, Chad Canute (Tonya) and Brad Canute (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Layken, Brent (Mariah), Ty, Carlie, Taylinn and Grayson; his great grandchildren, Evelyn and Molly; his sister Beth Canute; his father-in-law Bob Hartupee; and his siblings-in-law, Rob, Jamie Hartupee (Becky) and Vickie Canute. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
