It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ryan John-Suk Shaner (Shelby, Michigan), who passed away on January 2, 2021, at the age of 19, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his sister Grace Shaner. He is survived by: his parents, Robert Shaner and Kimberly Shaner; his sisters, Chelsea and Abigail; his grandparents, Leonard, Rosemarie Shaner and Carol Rutherford (late John); and his godparents, Stacey Nebus and Todd Glaspie. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

“My deepest regret is that I didn’t get the chance to jam on the guitar with Ryan. Ryan liked art and music, and everybody loved the creativity he brought to the table. I admire him deeply as a fellow guitar player and friend, I don’t think I can ever stop kicking myself for not making plans to jam sooner. Ryan planted trees without the expectation of shade and his kind soul will forever be loved for it. Ryan was only a small part of my life, but I feel the weight of the universe without him.”
