He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul George Kies and Edith Kies. He is survived by: his spouse Kathy Kies (Schneider); his children, Paul A., Sally Kies (Stier), Christopher, Elizabeth Kies (Diem), Andrew and Deanna Kies (Gerberry); his grandchildren, Paul James, Orrin, Eli, Annalise, Andrew, Nathan and Ian; and his siblings, Edith Poelzing (Dietmar) and Marlisa Kalb (Robert).
