She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Hoover and Ida Hoover (Telleson); her husband Robert VanDyke; her son Robert VanDyke III (Mary) of Shelby; her granddaughter Jennifer VanDyke; her great grandchild Alex Buentello; her daughter-in-law Virginia "Jenny" VanDyke; her siblings, Virginia Crampton (Ward), Charles "Bud" Hoover (Marie), Donna Dagen (Charles), Bertram "Pete" Hoover (Eleanor), Betty Sturdefant (John), Carol Harrell (Bernard) and Richard "Dick" Hoover; and her brothers-in-law, Lester Stroup, Garry Bradfield and James Sikkenga.
She is survived by: her sons, Arthur VanDyke (Sally) of Greenfield, Alan VanDyke (Chong) of Bossier City, Gregory VanDyke (Diane) of New Era, Kevin VanDyke (Lorrie) of Shelby and Jeffrey VanDyke of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Dyan Sanchez (Juan), Robert "Bobby" VanDyke, Robert "Bo" VanDyke (Nicole), Michael VanDyke, Adam VanDyke (Taylor), Chris VanDyke (Holli Richards), Connie VanDerZanden (Brian), Amanda Dodge (David) and Cody VanDyke (Kara); her siblings, Doris Stroup, Wayne Hoover (Susan) and Marilyn Bradfield; and her sister-in-law Kay Sikkenga. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Harris Funeral Home (267 N Michigan Ave, Shelby, MI 49455). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery (2990 W Woodrow Rd, Shelby, MI 49455).
Donations in her memory may be made to the Cherry Blossom Manor Activity Fund or The Oceana Echo newspaper.
