She was predeceased by: her child Lia Messina; her siblings, James Holmes (JoLaynne), George Holmes (Denise) and Aileen Brockway (Michael); and her parents, James Ralph and Stella May Holmes.

She is survived by: her husband Casper Messina; her children, Angela Meguid (Ahmed), Joseph Messina and Maria Messina Wiersma (Matthew); and her siblings, Carolyn Bogan, Matilda Wilson and John Holmes (Mary). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
