Age 88, of Scotts, MI, passed away at his home on November 10, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1935, in Scotts, just two miles away from his current residence, the son of the late Donald and Marjorie (Horsefall) Hayward. He remained a lifelong resident of Scotts and was always proud to call it home. After graduating high school, he enlisted and served in the US Army until being honorably discharged. Dale grew up with a love for farming and nature in his heart. As a young man he worked as a farmhand and was president of the FFA. Hard work was a part of who Dale was and he was always on the go. He owned and operated Hayward Dry-Marl for several years and then drove truck for Clark Equipment and would retire from Scotts Farm Supply. When not working he loved spending time in the woods on his property. He was an avid snowmobiler and enjoyed hunting trips to his cabin up north. He was a charter member of the Scotts Community Center and was a friend and neighbor who was always willing to help. Above all Dale loved to spend time with his family. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and he leaves behind wonderful memories to be cherished. On April 9, 1960, he married the love of his life, Jennie (Beardsley) Hayward who survives. They celebrated 64 years together! He is also survived by two children, Peggy Hayward and Michael Hayward; five grandchildren, Jason (Toniesha) Burns, Nichole (James) Phillips, Beatrice Brown, Benjamin Hayward, Abigayle (Allen) Gersitz; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; siblings, Shirley Hudson, Allen (Carol) Hayward, Donna (Richard) Budden, George (Schnarch) Hayward, Joyce (Russ) Guetschow; in-laws, Nancy Hayward, Dewayne Drallette, Lorraine Hayward-Drallette; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a twin brother, David Hayward, brother, Clare Hayward, sister, Judith Drallette.
