He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Terry and Doris Elaine Burson (Williams); his stepmother Betty Burson; his siblings, Louise Rhoda and Bob Burson; and his stepbrother Mike Hess.

He is survived by: his spouse Nancy; his daughters, Stacy Helmboldt (Andy) of Battle Creek and Autumn Dean (Tommy) of Vicksburg; his granddaughters, Taylor Burson, Grace Helmboldt and Libby Helmboldt; his stepchildren, Laurie Leonard (Tim) of Kalamazoo, MI, Cheri Puryear of Paw Paw, MI and Bill Puryear of Kirksville, MO; his stepgrandchildren, Alisha, William Leonard, Steve, Raymond and Jenavee Puryear; his sisters, Peggy Baldwin (Tom) of Vicksburg, Marlene Burson of Vicksburg and Terry Burgess (Richard) of Vicksburg; and his sister-in-law Pat Burson of Schoolcraft. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
