He was predeceased by : his parents, Donald Deetjen and Eleanor Deetjen (Peters); his daughter Keri Deetjen; and his brothers, Donald, Philip and James Deetjen.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Throgmorton; his children, Christie Berrier (Brian), Kelly Rodriguez (Eraclio) and Erik Deetjen; and his siblings, Douglas Deetjen (Sue) and Kay Miller. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
