He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl Peterson and Ingrid Peterson (Nilson); his wife Lucille "Lou" Wedde; his son Dale; and his brother Elmer Peterson.

He is survived by : his children, Noel Peterson (Angie Silguero) and Linda Magro (Frank); and his grandchildren, Sarah Johnson (Alex), Nick Magro, Kylie Peterson and Nate Peterson.
