He was predeceased by: his parents, William L Abshire and Pauline Ellet Abshire; his brother Jim; his daughter Christine; and his siblings-in-law, Arthur Jeffers, June Dechnik Alexander and Shirley Carter.
He is survived by: his child But; his wife Marilyn; his children, William LeClair III, Nancy Doyle (Paul), Leslie Bendall, Abbie Abshire, Sally Abshire (Don Harnish), Robin Furman (Phil) and Caroline 'Carrie' Smith (Marty); his grandchildren, James Stewart, Jason Abshire, Jillian Skym, Mark Bendall, Will Bendall, Corinn Wojciechowski, Jean Page, Robert Flanagan, Mary Paiz, Marty Smith and Joshua Smith; his sister Alice Jeffers; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Oakes. He is also survived by 27 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute toward adoption fees at the Ionia County Animal Shelter.
